Is social media marketing a daunting task to your business? Social media marketing is a great tool, if you know how to do it correctly. A lot of business coaches recommend that small businesses delve into social media marketing. So the business owner sets up the Facebook fan page, a Twitter account, a LinkedIn account. So now what? The business coach recommends that you send status updates at least once-a-day. They recommend that you should send tweets at least several times a day.

Now, what are you going to send status updates about? What are you going to tweet about? It is recommended that you don’t always send status updates and tweets about specials of your business. It is recommended that you should send status updates and tweets regarding what you are doing in your community, or what special events you are attending in your community. Do you sponsor a little league team? A little league hockey team? A soccer team? These are perfect topics to send status updates about or to tweet about. Let everyone know on your fan page what those events are and how they can help sponsor the same team.

Has there been a new restaurant that just opened up in your community? Well, visit the new restaurant and then give a status update of how your visit was, the food, the service. Let your fans know if you enjoyed the restaurant or not.

If you have children you can also send status updates and tweets about what your children are doing in school. Mix these status updates and tweets in with some tweets about new things that is going on with your business. This is a great way for people to get to know you, have a relationship with you, build trust with you and your business. The best way to get business is from people who know, like and trust you those are the people will do business with you.

Now, how are you going to get all of this done? Well, there are virtual assistants in the work force like myself who will schedule tweets and status updates for you. A virtual assistant can also submit your articles to different article submission sites. This way you can do your work while your status updates and tweets get posted. Don’t be leary about outsourcing these tasks to a virtual assistant, we are just like an administrative assistant, but just do it virtually from our fully functional office.

I started as a legal secretary over eleven years ago. When I started in the law office it was part-time as a receptionist. Over a period of time, I worked my way up to being a legal secretary. Suddenly, the attorney came in and gave me a tape and said “here, please transcribe this and do whatever it is on there.” I thought to myself, “what?!” “What is a transcript?” “What do I do with it once I’m done?” I wish that someone back then would have been around to inform me of what transcription was, and what I was supposed to do with it.

As a graduate from a college with my Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies, I find that the college that I attended said nothing about a paralegal needing to know transcription. So, I have set out asking paralegal students if they knew they were supposed to know transcription. You would not believe how many of them look at me dumbfounded and asked “Transcription, what is that?” “How do you do transcription?” “What is the purpose of it?”

Even with the electronic age and quite a few attorneys creating their own work, there is still a need for transcription. Attorneys may interview a witness from a car accident, it needs to be transcribed into something that the attorney can use. Defense Attorneys may have to have a jail-house taped conversation of one inmate calling someone on the “outside” transcribed, or a transcript of something that went down on the inside from a recording.

There is a misconception that transcription is easy to do, that anyone can do it. I’m sorry but I disagree! I have set out to prepare paralegals and to teach individuals how to prepare concise, good quality transcripts.

Transcription is an “art form” not just anybody can do it. You have to be able to capture the context of what the person is saying, but still have correct punctuation and grammar. The School of Transcription is your continuing education to teach new paralegals and individuals the art form of transcription. Won’t you join us today to learn the “right way” to do transcription? Classes are starting soon. Seating is limited! Don’t wait! Start your membership today!

I have received numerous comments from clients who I have done transcription for that have told me that they were unhappy with how they were treated by the transcriptionist that they hired. The transcriptionist either didn’t take out all of the ohh’s, um’s, ahhh’s etc, didn’t get back with them on a continual basis, took a week to do a one hour audio, or realized they didn’t charge enough and left the client high and dry. To me this is very unacceptable behavior and not at all how a client should be treated.

I also just finished my Associate’s degree with a local college here in Missouri, and they didn’t even offer to teach the paralegals any form of transcription at all. I realized after working with clients for over three years and the problems they were facing that people who want to get into transcription think that it is easy. They think that anyone can do it. Well that is NOT the case.

Transcription is an art form, as I see it. You have to be concise. You have to provide a good quality product. You have to undersell and over produce. Yes, we do transcribe verbatim but that doesn’t mean put every ohhh, ahhh and ummmm in the transcript.

For these reasons I came up with the School of Transcription. If you are a paralegal just coming out of college, or someone who wants to start their own transcription business working from home, then you need to attend the School of Transcription. When you become a member of the School of Transcription you will have access to chat with other members via text chat and video chat, blogs, forums, and access to a monthly webinar with your three month paid subscription.

In the webinar members will learn:

♦ The correct equipment to use, and how to use it;

♦ The proper way to format: letters, memos, pleadings (if you’re a paralegal), and the proper way to format interviews;

♦ Also you will transcribe an hour long audio that you can use as a sample product of your service.

All of this is included with your paid membership. So, get your membership started TODAY! Space is limited! Click on SchoolofTranscription.com to become a charter member of the School of Transcription!

I just found out about some great new software while I was working on a transcript for one of my clients. One of her friends suggested that her clients use a program called JingProject.com. So, I wanted to share this with all of my friends across the internet who stop by and visit my blog. JingProject.com is a great tool that you can use to help you if you hold seminars, webinars or just want to teach someone how to do something in particular on the computer, or if you want to record a video as well. All you have to do is go to JingProject.com and download this software for free. They even have a free video tutorial to get you up and running in no time. You can either use it as a screen shot to take just a screen shot of a particular item, or you can record videos to give someone a demonstration on how to do something.

Another great tool that I found is Screenshot Captor. This is strictly just for capturing a bunch of screen shots to save, or just to send someone a screen shot. I think VA’s like myself would really find this tool very handy. For example: if you have a client and that you are working for, and you are doing some web design for them, or posting articles in article submission sites and you have a question, you just take a screen shot with this, you can highlight the area in question or even add an arrow to point to the question that you have. I am really looking forward to using this particular software. Along with the JingProject.com.

So go ahead, try these out. Both of these sites are free. They do ask for a small donation, but you don’t have to if you don’t want to. Any comments that you have about this software would be great if you would leave them at the bottom of this post. Make it a great weekend!

As I wrote in a previous article, and you may remember, my mother suffered a stroke last May. (As seen on the left)After her hospital stay she had to be placed in a Rehabilitation Center/Nursing Facility. (They don’t call them nursing homes anymore!). My mother’s left arm is paralyzed, she cannot get in and out of bed by herself anymore which means she cannot bathe herself anymore either. Some of the things that I found out I felt were astounding and I wanted to share them with all of you.

Medicare only pays for the first 100 days of rehabilitative care, and any supplemental insurance does not cover much of the cost.

The average daily cost of nursing home care is any where from $4,000 to $6,000 a month!!!

This cost only covers laundry, Certified Nursing Assistant, meals and room and board.

The best insurance to cover this enormous cost is long-term residential or it may be called long-term care insurance. Now, this may not be the exact terminology, but, if I were you I would definitely contact my insurance carrier to find out the exact coverage.

What the monthly cost does not cover: medicines, Nursing Practitioner, Doctor, clothing, if your parent needs supplemental personal items such as Depends (TM) even cranberry juice things of this nature.

Now I don’t know about you, but me and my family cannot afford to pay this enormous amount of costs on a continuing monthly basis. Out of looking into this issue very thoroughly and the only light of this long dark tunnel is to get my mother on medicaid. Yup! You read right! Medicaid! This means she cannot own any property! Her assets cannot be more than $4,000 total!

So these facts got me to thinking, you work all of your life, you strive to make a good home for your family and have something someday, and all that happens in the end is that the nursing home takes it, which really rubs me the wrong way.

One suggestion that I did receive from a medical supplier who was visiting the same hospital my mother was in said, that he once received an email that suggested that: “We should take all of our elderly and put them in the prison system, and then, take all of the prisoners and put them in the nursing homes. The reason for this is that our elderly will get better care in the prison system that they are getting now, and for FREE!” Sounds like a great idea to me!

I know I may sound like I’m very passionate about this topic, but if it was your parent what would you do? Please leave a well thoughtout comment at the end of this post.

How would you do that, you may ask? Well, repurposing them of course! Drag out that old teleseminar audio that you have sitting in your desk drawer getting dusty. Did you ever take a listen to it? I bet there is a lot of pretty good material on it that you can repurpose into info products.

Now, repurposing your teleseminar it’s easy and in this day and age with everyone wanting to “Go Green” it’s even environmentally friendly.
You have your teleseminar transcribed and you can use the transcript in many different ways.

Consider these:

•	Repurpose for future teleseminars
•	Create a blog post
•	Write an ezine article
•	Create an info product

You may even get it featured on the “Wall of Transcription!”

All of the ways that I have mentioned are environmentally friendly; because you post links to all of your blogs, articles, info products on your social networking sites, eg., Facebook, LinkedIn, Blogger, or your website; and, all of this is a paperless enterprise where you wouldn’t be using paper, hence no trees that would be cut down.

By promoting your event on these sites you are letting people know that you’re conducting a very important and interesting teleseminar, and, that there will be a downloadable transcript plus the audio. Why have both? The audio could be made available be for the people who could not attend the teleseminar; but would like to listen to it on their Ipod. The transcript would be made available to people who prefer to read it on their computer screen or to print it out thereby allowing them to annotate the document. Some people just like to make notes and doodles!

There you have it. You just “Went Green” with your teleseminar!

I found this article about a great tip for public speaking, please read on:

First of all, if you experience facial flushing during public speaking, you’re not alone. There are millions of sufferers around the globe who deal with this every day. I was surprised to find that my boss actually blushed intensely during a big interview with a potential client. She said she wasn’t used to the pressure. It was strange though, because in informal situations she was very bold, confident and out-spoken with no signs of flushing. I, on the other hand experienced blushing in many informal and formal situations. It was more intense when all eyes were on me, but I remember having Mexican food with my mom and actually flushing intensely.

I started researching causes and cures for this condition, knowing deep down that there HAD to be a solution. My intent with this article was to publish a summary of my findings, from my personal experience. Hopefully they will be useful to you, whatever your situation with flushing.
It’s safe to say that there are a range of things responsible for the tendency to flush or blush in the face and neck. They include stress, diet and poor digestion, and constant unnecessary fears. I put stress first, because continual strain on the body and mind cause a myriad of disorders. I learned that stress can weaken the digestive tract, which in turn can make you more sensitive to foods and even cause allergies. A medical doctor, specializing in facial flushing, told me that blushing is actually likened to a signal flare, telling you something is wrong in your body. And in most cases, it means your digestive system is out of whack and you are under too much stress. Upon learning this, I immediately changed my diet cutting out alcohol, gluten and dairy. I also started going to a few more massages a month, as a stress reducer.

At this point though, I’d conditioned myself to expect a facial flushing episode while public speaking. What I found was that my constant yet unnecessary fears, which by now were apart of my normal thought process, were actually inhibiting me from staying calm. I learned about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and that it’s commonly used to cure social anxiety and facial flushing. I also found many accounts of people who’d had success with hypnotherapy. Both methods’ main goal is to re-train the mind to disassociate from triggers that seem threatening but truly aren’t. For example, when I started speaking in meetings, I would instantly become afraid that what I was saying was stupid, boring or not relevant and that everyone was judging me. It was horrible! Choosing to try CBT and Hypnotherapy was one of the best decisions I made, as my facial flushing is almost non-existent and I never even worry about it!

If you’re experiencing facial flushing during public speaking, you might want to think about making healthier diet choices, lowering your stress level, and using Hypnotherapy.
